Edward Alexis O'Neill RosaEdward O'Neill García, born August 26, 1969 in Guaynabo, is a prominent Puerto Rican public servant and political leader. Coming from a family with a legacy rooted in public service and social conscience, Edward has followed in the footsteps of his father, Hector O'Neill Garcia, who was mayor of Guaynabo for more than two decades.
Education and Career Path:
Edward completed his primary studies at San Pedro Mártir School in Verona and Juan B. Miranda Middle School in Barrio los Frailes. He later graduated from Margarita Janer Palacios High School, where he received his fourth year diploma. Continuing with his academic education, he pursued undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic University in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
For 24 years, Edward served in various roles at the Puerto Rico Government Electric Power Authority, as well as at LUMA Energy, where he played a key role in rebuilding the power grid in several areas of the Metro Area after the devastating Hurricane Maria in 2017.
Personal and Family Life:
Son of Héctor O'Neill García and Margarita Rosa Díaz, Edward has stood out for his dedication to his family and community. He is the father of two university-educated children, Paola and Edward Andrés, and his simple life close to nature reflects the values rooted in his native Hato Nuevo neighborhood.
